The ongoing saga surrounding WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has taken another interesting twist – well for communication professionals and social media enthusiasts at least. Britain’s Supreme Court is the latest in a long line of seemingly straight-laced entities that has embraced microblogging platform Twitter, announcing today that it will launch its account to issue real-time news on court judgements.

In a move to make its proceedings as ‘accessible as possible’ and ‘engage a new audience who might no be familiar with the court’s work’ it seems the Supreme Court has launched in time for one of its highest profile cases for 2012.
