Vinnies CEO Sleepout 2014

On a cold winter’s night in June, Rowland Chairman, Geoff Rodgers, was one of 176 Queensland business, government, and community leaders who participated in the St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland (Vinnies) CEO Sleepout, experiencing first-hand what it is like to be homeless.

Homelessness is a reality for more than 105,000 Australians, including approximately 17,000 children under the age of 10.

This is why the Vinnies CEO Sleepout is such an important event — raising much-needed awareness and funds to address homelessness throughout Australia.

This year, Geoff was recognised as the top Queensland fundraiser, contributing $41,370 to the $818,014 Queensland fundraising total and the national total of $5,868,132.

In addition to Geoff’s fundraising efforts, as a Queensland partner of St Vincent de Paul, Rowland proudly provided professional assistance with communication, promotion, media relations, participant recruitment, and other pro bono services.

We were also pleased to further support Vinnies through the development of an infographic, which clearly articulates the organisation’s purpose, outlines its services, and demonstrates its positive impact.

The infographic was a key feature at the Sleepout and is currently being incorporated into the Vinnies Queensland annual report, in employee inductions, and rolled out across Vinnies’ 130 Queensland stores.
