We’re proud that work experience or an internship at Rowland is a sought-after gig. We love meeting some of the next gen of communicators, and giving them some real-life insights into the world of strategic communication. Bryn Moffatt, currently studying at UQ, shares his experience of his time at Rowland recently.

My time doing work experience at Rowland not only provided invaluable experience in the communication field but allowed me to understand that working in communication is something I wish pursue moving forward in my career.

The staff at Rowland were personable and friendly and it truly felt like a family from the moment I walked through the door. The diversity of experience at Rowland has ensured that my time there was well spent gaining a range of new skills and I feel the insight that they have given me would have been difficult to achieve elsewhere.

I was asked to engage with work over a variety of different areas from government relations to organisational and change communication. I was even given the opportunity to visit Parliament House with Hon. John Mickel, the former Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland, which speaks to the range of expertise on which Rowland is able to draw.

My time at Rowland was thoroughly enjoyable and informative and should be something that others trying to further themselves in the communication field should consider.

Thanks Bryn – we enjoyed having you work with us. Maybe next time we will get you to take over our Twitter account. Last month a 15-year-old named Eddie did a work placement with Southern Rail UK to get a sense of what it was like to work in the social media team.
