About the role

The Rowland in-house design studio is one of the largest in Brisbane, providing creative direction, brand development, graphic design and digital illustration for some of the country’s biggest brands.

We are strategic in our approach, using design to help our clients solve problems, create opportunities, and, ultimately, transform their businesses.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Graphic Designer who will play a key role in building brands, developing Annual and Sustainability reports as well as content and collateral production.

This position, located in our Brisbane CBD office, offers a flexible hybrid work schedule.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the design team to conceptualise and develop innovative design solutions for various projects, including branding, marketing campaigns, social media.
  • Assist in the creation of motion graphics, animations, and visual effects using After Effects, bringing static designs to life and enhancing user engagement.
  • Conduct research and gather inspiration to stay up-to-date with industry trends, design techniques, and emerging technologies, incorporating them into your work to maintain a fresh and innovative approach.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members, clients, and stakeholders to understand project requirements, provide design recommendations, and deliver exceptional design outcomes.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met with Rowland QA standards.

Skills and qualifications

  • A minimum of three years of experience working in a graphic design role, preferably within a creative agency or similar environment.
  • A degree or diploma in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in animation, motion graphics, and visual effects using After Effects.
  • Solid portfolio showcasing a range of design projects, including both static and animated designs.
  • Knowledge of video editing and other multimedia software is a plus.

Technical

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and After Effects.
  • Strong understanding of design principles, composition, colour theory, typography, and visual hierarchy.
  • Ability to think creatively and translate concepts into visually compelling designs.
  • Proficiency in design in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint would be well-regarded.
  • Experience in typesetting long form reports
  • Familiarity with current design trends and techniques, as well as a passion for exploring new design approaches.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present and explain design concepts and ideas to team members and clients.
